Is MLB darling Tim Lincecum pissed off that his bobblehead looks nothing like him? I’d be.
Only athletes of a certain caliber can boast having a nodding figurine created in his image, and more often than not, there is some resemblance. Take, for instance, this bobblehead of former Oakland A’s starter-cum-closer Dennis Eckersley. Dead ringer.
That isn’t the case here with Lincecum’s resin “Forever Collectibles” 2010 World Series bobblehead ($24.99). In fact, other than the enormous brown eyeballs, this guy looks nothing like “The Freak.” At. All.
For those who live under a rock, Lincecum is the 26-year-old starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, a bow tie-rockin’, furtively weed-smoking all-around champ with two Cy Young Awards under his belt (he won his first during his first full season in the majors). On Monday, he racked up 10 strikeouts, leading his team to clinch their first World Series title since 1954 (back when the team repped New York). Needless to say, the Fil-Am right-hander is a star. An idol. The reason we live.
But I digress. What’s up with the bobblehead? Do you think it looks like Lincecum? Do you even care?
