Detention

A scene from Kahn’s upcoming film, Detention

When it was first announced that critically-acclaimed filmmaker, Joseph Kahn, was making a new film, I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about it.

His last movie, Torque, didn’t perform well at the box office, and the reviews weren’t very enthusiastic either. But Kahn’s latest film, Detention, is being described as a horror-comedy high school slasher with some kind of sci-fi twist – kind of like Back to the Future meets Scream with a hefty dose of teen comedy. Chaotic, but interesting.

The film stars Dane Cook, as well as one of Korean American rapper, Jonathan “Dumbfoundead” Park.

Shortly after I heard about the announcement of the film, I found out that they were filming at University High School in West L.A., not too far from where I live. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to check out the filming, but the trailer for the film is finally out and it looks promising. Check the trailer after the jump!

Look forward to teens, slashers, gore, aliens, and time travel when this film comes out.
