Will Dia Be Crowned ‘The Voice?’

by Ann Lee

Four artists remain in the running to be “The Voice” after 10 weeks of grueling training and pressure. Tonight, one artist will emerge from the pack as the victor in NBC’s popular singing competition. Given the rankings on iTunes, it seems like Dia Frampton could go take home the prize.

Last night on “The Voice,” Frampton performed her original song “Inventing Shadows.” The half-Dutch, half-Korean singer worked her magic while clad in a vibrant scarlet dress and wowed the audience and judges with her talent.

Though the judges praised Frampton’s singing, two of the coaches couldn’t help but criticize the shadowbox dancers in the background as distracting. The disparaging comments by Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera were quickly slapped down by Frampton’s coach, Blake Shelton.

The country singer defended his protégé, saying, “You know what else is gonna be distracting? When [Christina and Adam] turn on the phone in 30 minutes and see [Dia] sitting way above their records [on the iTunes charts].”

Shelton’s confidence in Frampton seems to have been well-founded. As of this morning, “Inventing Shadows” stood at the top of the iTunes chart.

Cee Lo Green had only warm accolades for Frampton.

“It will probably be number one on iTunes again,” he said. “You never cease to amaze me, you pretty little thing.”

Wednesday’s show was the most-watched on Tuesday, according to Nielsen. The first hour of “The Voice” averaged 12.9 million viewers and a healthy 4.3 rating in the key 18-49 demographic.

The final episode of “The Voice” airs tonight at 8 p.m.
