What do you do when, after years of unimaginable pressure and being called a “massive disappointment,” you finally rise to become a major champion?
Drink beer out of your trophy and twerk, of course.
On Sunday, once-child-prodigy Michelle Wie won the U.S. Women’s Open at Pinehurst #2 in North Carolina, the biggest tournament of her life.
She celebrated the victory like any normal 24-year-old girl would, but just as many stories of modern-day regret begin, the evidence wound up on Instagram. The video of Wie doing a handstand against a wall while shaking her ass was posted by one of her friends, according to Deadspin, and disappeared only after it started going viral. There are also photos online of the champ drinking out of her U.S. Open trophy and giving the finger.
Not quite the face of stoicism we’re used to seeing plastered on Golf magazine covers—and we’re not sure how her sponsors will respond—but it’s kind of refreshing to see Wie let loose with her friends.
