Adeline Rudolph, known for her work in Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and CW’s “Riverdale,” has joined the cast of “Mortal Kombat 2.” The second installment of the esteemed game-to-screen franchise, the New Line sequel will continue the narrative of the 2021 film.
Directed by Simon McQuoid and based on the video game series of the same name, “Mortal Kombat” follows a ragtag group of resistance fighters tasked with defending the Earthrealm against the Outworld. Though the game’s initial 1990s film series was canceled after underperforming at the box office, McQuoid’s reboot grossed over $84 million in theaters and reigns as one of HBO Max’s most successful releases to date.
Rudolph’s character, Kitana, was first introduced in “Mortal Kombat II” – the critically-acclaimed game that skyrocketed the “Kombat” series to fame. One of the game’s most beloved warriors, Kitana is known for her unique fighting style and cunning use of steel fans.
The film will see the reunion of Rudolph and fellow “Sabrina” actress Tati Gabrielle, who was recently confirmed in the role of Jade. Other confirmed cast members include Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion and Chin Han as Shang Tsung.
In addition to “Kombat 2,” Rudolph is set to play Bobbie Jo Song in “Hellboy: The Crooked Man.”
