After Much Drama, Actress Leslie Kim To Return To Drama

by Christine Kim

Korean American actress Han Ye Seul said she would return to the set of drama “Spy Myung Wol,” ending a wild sequence of events in which the Southern California native abruptly left the show and hopped on a plane to Los Angeles.

Han, known in the United States as Leslie Han Kim, left the production crew in a state of panic when she unexpectedly fled to the United States. Apparently, Han had grown upset with the poor working environment and subsequently decided not to appear for the scheduled filming on Aug. 14.

Yesterday, KBS and the studio held an emergency meeting and considered replacing Han’s character with a new protagonist. Due to the lack of footage, KBS had no other option but to air a “Spy Myung Wol” special, which featured a collection of past episodes.

However, despite the fact that Han informed her representative that she would return to Korea as soon as she buys a flight ticket, her future seems rather nebulous. According to the drama’s production crew, “the production team is undecided on whether they would accept her back at this point.”

At the same time, Han’s career might not meet its demise yet, despite predictions from some of the Korean media.

“Only if [Han] returns in time and doesn’t delay of the production of episode 12 airing next Monday, we will discuss the matter with the production team and decide then,” said Ko Young Tak, the head of KBS’s Drama Department.
