‘American Born Chinese’ Reunites ‘Everything Everywhere’ Trio for another Multiverse Action Epic

Disney+ reunites “Everything Everywhere All at Once” stars Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Stephanie Hsu in their brand new fantasy epic “American Born Chinese.” 

Based on the graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang, “American Born Chinese” tells the story of Jin Wang (Ben Wang), a Chinese – American teenager who faces challenges brought on by American high school, all the while trying to juggle his immigrant home life. After meeting new foreign exchange student Wei-Chen (Jimmy Liu), Jin finds himself caught in the middle of an ongoing struggle between gods and monsters of Chinese mythology.

Yeoh plays Guanyin, a deity known to be the “Goddess of Mercy,” is one of the most widely revered deities in Chinese culture. Her fellow “Everything Everywhere” co-stars show up as recurring roles in the series, with Quan playing Freddy Wong, and Hsu Shiji Niangniang, a deity in Chinese folk religion.

“Shang-Chi” director Destin Daniel Cretton helms the series and serves as one of the executive producers. The show also stars Chin Han, Ronny Chieng, Daniel Wu and Yeo Yann Yann.
