An anthology series spotlighting immigrant America is in the works at Apple. The tech giant is in cahoots with “The Big Sick” writers Kumail Nanjiani and his wife Emily Gordon and “Master of None” Co-creator and Executive Producer Alan Yang to produce the series.
According to Deadline, “Little America” will focus on the everyday lives of American immigrants, following them through their personal, romantic, funny and inspiring journeys. Nanjiani and Yang will most likely draw from their personal experiences to infuse the show with heart and realism.
Nanjiani and Gordon penned the Oscar-nominated independent romantic comedy “The Big Sick,” which is based on the couple’s real life love story. Alan Yang is the co-creator of Netflix’s “Master of None,” a multi-Emmy-winning series about the romantic and professional escapades of Dev Shah, played by Aziz Ansari.
Lee Eisenberg, executive producer of Showtime’s “SMILF,” is also set to executive produce “Little America,” which does not yet have a premiere date.
