“The Parent Trap” meets “Model Behavior” in Netflix’s new Vanessa Hudgens-starring holiday movie “The Princess Switch,” premiering Friday.
In the film, Hudgens assumes the roles of both main characters: Margaret, the Duchess of Montenero, and Stacey De Novo, an American baker. Stacey is invited to the fictional European country of Belgravia for a baking competition when she (literally) runs into Duchess Margaret. They realize they are identical and proceed to switch places and lives, leading to romance, drama and lots of laughs.
Hudgens tweeted about the film last Wednesday.

“The Princess Switch” is one of a few Christmas films Netflix has in its arsenal. Earlier this month, the streaming service released “The Holiday Calendar” on Nov. 2. And the sequel to last year’s “A Christmas Prince,” titled “A Christmas Prince 2: Royal Wedding,” is set to come out on Nov. 30.
The flick precedes Hudgens’ role in the romantic comedy “Second Act,” starring Jennifer Lopez and Charlyne Yi, premiering Dec. 21.
