More Awkwafina, more yes! The “Ocean’s 8” and “Crazy Rich Asians” star has signed on to a family comedy helmed by Lulu Wang.
Also starring Tzi Ma and Diana Lin, the still-untitled project tells the story of a Chinese family that gathers for a wedding as they hide from their grandmother that she does not have much time left to live.
The film is written by Wang. The director is best known for “Posthumous,” her 2014 feature debut starring Brit Marling and Jack Huston.
Awkwafina, whose real name is Nora Lum, is a fast-rising talent who burst onto the scene as a YouTube rapper and comedian. Her “My Vag” went viral in 2014. She was most recently seen in theaters in “Ocean’s 8,” opposite an A-list cast including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway playing a pickpocket named Constance.
Her latest EP, “In Fina We Trust,” dropped earlier this month.
