You’re getting ready for a night out with the gang, and you know what that means–liquor! Everything’s all fun and games, but after your first couple shots in, it hits you. Jennifer Du, the founder of Before Elixir, was once prey to the Asian flush. Like many Asians who suffer from Asian glow, the side effects of drinking were too much for her to handle and often turned good times into horrible times with the porcelain king. “I not only turn red when I drink, I’m sick for hours after one drink,” Du admitted. For a while, she was forced to give up alcohol all together. That is until she decided to do something about her Asian glow. “People always ask me if I’m a scientist or chemist,” says Du “I’m not. I just had a problem and wanted to solve it.”
When folks show redness after drinking, it’s an indicator that their body is working overtime to metabolize the alcohol, even up to 100x faster than the average person. Du had the intention of creating something more health conscious that’s full of vitamins, amino acids and natural extracts; thus the birth of Before Elixir.

However, with the hefty production costs, the company is currently running an Indiegogo campaign to further develop the Before Elixir formula and to get the drinks to bars near you.
When consuming Before Elixir, it should be taken thirty minutes prior to consuming alcohol to experience the effects. The best part is that it can be mixed with every third beverage for longer lasting effects– bet you can’t do that with Pepcid AC.
