The bodies of two South Korean tourists, who went missing after their tour boat collided with a fishing vessel near Thailand’s resort island of Phuket on Sunday, were recently found in waters near the crash scene, police said.

According to the Associated Press, marine police and volunteer rescuers recovered the bodies more than 30 meters underwater and under the debris of the tourist speedboat.

The speedboat was carrying 44 tourists and crew members from the exotic islands of Phi Phi. Most of the tourists aboard were Chinese but included four Koreans — two of them were rescued by the marine police.

The Thai boat driver was arrested for reckless driving and initially faced charges of causing serious physical injuries to several passengers.

“Now that a body is found, we will have to press the additional charges of causing death by reckless act against him,” Col. Phrutthipong of the Krabi police told AP.

This is the second fatal boat accident in Thailand this month. On Oct. 5, two Indian tourists drowned after their boat capsized, also in the Andaman Sea. In addition to these accidents, last month’s grisly murder of two British holidaymakers has raised alarms over tourist safety in Thailand.
