Some moments deserve more than a single night. Character Honors is one of them.
On May 1, Character honored eight voices shaping this chapter of AAPI culture. A powerful way to begin AAPI Heritage Month, the night set the tone for what this moment represents. Now, that night lives on in print. The Character Honors magazine captures the energy of the event in a collectible issue that brings those honorees together across its pages. Each person represents a different space in culture, from storytelling and business to fashion and community.

On the cover and throughout the issue are Lisa Ling, Nanxi Liu, Vicky Tsai, Albert Yang, Thai Nguyen, Bobby Hundreds, Jiro Egawa, and Ally Maki. Each feature goes beyond a simple profile and gives a closer look at their stories and perspectives.

The issue is designed as an extension of the event. Across 84 pages, it brings together portraits, interviews, and moments that reflect where culture is now and where it is going.

The Character Honors event, presented with Toyota’s Call Your Shot, helped shape the vision for this issue. Hosted by Helen Hong and Gene Kang, the night focused on people who have built their own paths and created space for others. Guests experienced interactive moments including a photo booth powered by Call Your Shot, along with a showcase of the 2026 Toyota Sequoia. The evening also featured a performance by Katherine Ho, adding another layer to the celebration.

That same energy carries into the magazine. It is not just a recap. It is a record of the night and the people behind it.
