Popular MBC variety show Dad! Where Are We Going? has been nominated for an Emmy Kids Award in the “Non-scripted Entertainment” category, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The family-oriented variety show has been on air since January last year and features a group of celebrity dads spending quality time alone with their children during overnight camping trips.
In early episodes, most of the fathers are awkward at interacting with their kids without the moms’ support and guidance. However, as the show progresses, the father-child pairings gradually develop a better understanding of each other and deepen their bonds through challenges and activities.
The show has earned enormous success and popularity overseas, spawning Chinese, Vietnamese, and Russian versions of the show. In addition, the original Korean program has won two international awards, including the Platinum Award in the TV entertainment category at the 2014 WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.
Aside from Dad! Where Are We Going, other Emmy nominees for children’s non-scripted entertainment include A Hero on Tuesdays (Germany), Let’s Get Inventin’ (New Zealand), and Wild Kids (Sweden).
The Third International Emmy Kids Awards will take place Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 in New York City.
