“Dramaworld,” the K-drama spoof that premiered its first season in 2016, is getting a 10-episode second season, according to Variety.
The short series follows Liv Hewson as Claire, a college student and K-drama fanatic who finds herself accidentally sucked into her favorite series, and made to work as a Dramaworld “facilitator” to help the story progress the way it should. Sean Dulake and Justin Chon also star.
The romantic comedy was noted for featuring cameos from many of South Korea’s top television actors, among them Han Ji-min and Super Junior’s Siwon.
Ben Silverman and Howard Owens’ Propagate has acquired the rights to the show, which is currently in production. It was originally created as an original from U.S.-based K-drama streaming site Viki, and is now being produced by Third Culture Content, which also worked on the first season.
Chris Farrokh, Propagate’s president of international, told Variety that the series “organically blends East and West cultures together, and Propagate understands its potential. … We look forward to building out ‘Dramaworld’ into the international franchise it deserves to be.”
Hewson, an Australian actor, is best known for starring in Netflix’s comedy-horror zombie series “Santa Clarita Diet.” Dulake was most recently seen in the South Korean war film “Operation Chromite.”
