Films at the DC APA Film Fest

The D.C. Asian Pacific Asian Pacific American Film Festival’s Opening Night Reception is tonight, at 9:30pm, and is closing out on October 16th. If you’ve missed out on all the other Asian American film festivals, this is your chance to see some great films by APA directors.

The festival is hosting a panel on Korean Adoption, featuring Abbe Levine, the head of the Department of Family and Post-Adoption Services at the Barker Foundation,  Brandi Hill, an adoption social worker from the Children’s Home Society & Family Services and Anna Petrillo, the president of APA Film.

The festival is also screening Helie Lee’s Macho Like Me, which we previously wrote about, where Lee will make an appearance to do a live show.

Another film that looks interesting is God is D_ad, an Abraham L. Lim film, which was shot in both the United States and South Korea, with actors from both countries. According to its official Facebook page, the film falls under the fantasy/road movie/80’s category.  “GOD IS D_AD ponders what it really means to “choose your character:” the person you are, the person others think you are, or the person you aspire to be.”
