Jesse Watters, who caused an uproar last year by hosting a racially charged Chinatown segment on “The O’Reilly Factor,” is getting his own show on Fox News.
The network announced today that Watters — a 38-year-old TV personality and producer — will have his own weekly show, featuring street interviews on politics and pop culture, beginning this Saturday.
The “Watters’ World” Chinatown segment, which was criticized by Asian American organizations and leaders as “blatantly racist,” “offensive” and “insensitive,” was not Watters’ first controversy. He has been under fire, among other incidents, for allegedly stalking and harassing a Think Progress managing editor, for attacking New York’s homeless population, and ambushing elementary school teachers.
“I am humbled that FOX News Channel has given me this opportunity,” Watters said in a statement. “I look forward to viewers entering my world more often and wouldn’t be in this position if it weren’t for Bill [O’Reilly].”
