“Fresh Off the Boat,” produced by 20th Television, has reached a syndication deal with Freeform and Up TV, to begin airing later this year, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The ABC family sitcom was renewed for a fifth season in May, and currently has 79 episodes to its name. That makes it the longest-running show led by Asian Americans in TV history.
Set in the ‘90s, the show follows the Huang family — portrayed by Randall Park, Constance Wu, Hudson Yang, Forrest Wheeler, Ian Chen, Lucille Soong — as they navigate American life in the Orlando suburbs. The story is based on the real-life memoir of chef Eddie Huang.
First Asian American show to complete a full season.
First to get renewed, for a second, third, fourth and now fifth.
