“Black-ish”’s Zoey gets some new college classmates, as Freeform adds actor Jordan Buhat to the regular cast of spin-off series, “Grown-ish.”
“Grown-ish” is to be a spin-off of “Black-ish” and will star Yara Shahidi as Zoey, Dre and Rainbow’s 17-year-old daughter, as she heads off to college and deals with the struggles of growing up.
Deadline describes Buhat’s character, Vivek, as a first-generation Indian American college student with an “endearing lack of self awareness.” The show, which is being executive produced by Kenya Barris of “Black-ish,” run 13 episodes and is slated to start production next week. It will premiere on Freeform in early 2018.
Audiences will also be able to catch Buhat in “Summer of ‘84,” the upcoming drama and thriller from Brightlight Pictures.
