Road trips are never easy. Especially when you and your three friends somehow get embroiled in a drug dealer in a foreign country while looking for your birth mother — but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.
The “Joy Ride” trailer is finally here; the R-rated comedy directed by Adele Lim, co-written alongside Teresia Hsiao and Cherry Chavapravatdumrang, just dropped its first trailer, a month after the first look was released. And even with the added context, there’s no doubt that the film will be unhinged from the very moment movie audiences take a seat.
The sneak peek gives us a glimpse into the dynamics and mischief in store this summer — as the main character Audrey (Ashley Park), her chaotic childhood best friend Lolo (Sherry Cola), college roomie-turned-actress Kat (Stephanie Hsu) and odd-ball Deadeye (Sabrina Wu) travel across China to find Audrey’s birth mother. Naturally, though, chaos follows the quartet as they deal with stolen luggage, sneaking past airport security and drug-fueled mishaps.
But don’t take our word for it. Watch the trailer below and keep July 7, 2023, open for one wild ride.
