Stand-up comedian Jo Koy has been cast in his first film project, rounding out the cast of the upcoming time-travel flick “Anastasia.” According to Deadline, Koy is set to portray the role of Vladimir Lenin.
Not to be confused with 20th Century Fox’s animated 1997 “Anastasia,” director Blake Harris’ retelling of the famous tale of the Russian Duchess infuses history with science fiction. In this “Anastasia,” the young Romanov escapes the siege of her family palace through a portal and finds herself in 1988, where she must rely on her friendship with a young American girl to escape Vladimir Lenin.
Koy expressed his excitement for the project on his Twitter:

Koy, who is Filipino American, began doing stand-up comedy in high school. He has performed on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Chelsea Lately.” Last year, he released a Netflix special, “Jo Koy: Live From Seattle.”
