The “Jumanji” sequel starring Dwayne Johnson has set a release date of Dec. 13, 2019.
Johnson, who appears in the rebooted franchise alongside Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillian and Nick Jonas, announced the date on his Instagram Wednesday.
“I hold ‘Jumanji’ very close to my heart and I’m beyond grateful you made our movie into the global juggernaut it became,” he wrote. “Can’t wait for you to see what our new adventure & new characters have in store as Christmas comes early.”
In the film, Johnson plays an avatar, Smolder Bravestone, of a teenage kid named Spencer who is thrust into the game with his school friends. He uses his advanced physical strength to lead his group toward the end of the game.
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” directed by Jake Kasdan, topped the box office last winter and brought in $961.7 million worldwide.
