JYJ (Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu), aka the trio that split away from the wildly successful Korean boyband, DBSK (Dong Bang Shin Ki), is set to release its first global album, “The Beginning.”
DBSK was one of the biggest “hallyu” groups to come out of Korea; it was the first non-Japanese group to have nine No.1 singles on the Japanese Oricon charts, and regularly sold out concerts all over Asia, but when the three members of the group (Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu) sued their parent company, SM Entertainment, for inhumane contracts and labor conditions, the group rapidly unraveled. The two remaining members, Yunho and Changmin, are still under SM Entertainment, one of the biggest 3 entertainment companies in Korea, while JYJ is now represented by C-JeS Entertainment.
But enough of the legal scandals – JYJ is about to release its debut album, featuring some pretty heavy hitters. Its first single, ‘Ayy Girl,’ features and was composed by Kanye West. Rodney Jerkins also produced two tracks on the album, “Empty” and “Be My Girl.”
Check out Jerkins talking about JYJ in the following video:
The album is set for release on October 12th.
