It’s official! San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris is the first woman, African-American, Asian-American attorney general in California and the first Indian-American attorney general in the United States.
Although the California elections were nearly three weeks ago, counties were still counting mail-in and provisional ballots up until last night. Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley, who had originally claimed victory on Nov. 2nd, finally conceded defeat on Wednesday, as he trailed by more than 50,000 votes.
Harris will join San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom in Sacramento next year.
