KCS: Drug Medi-Cal Counseling

Since 1975, Korean Community Services has been providing professional educational programs in domestic violence, parent education, counseling, driving under the influence, anger management and outpatient substance abuse.

One of our newest programs, Drug Medi-Cal Counseling, is a volunteer program that serves low-income and Medi-Cal eligible individuals. Clients will be offered professional medical assessments, treatment planning, group and individual counseling, community referrals, and case management to help patients achieve not only recovery from drug and alcohol abuse, but to improve their overall quality of life. This six-month program offers three different levels of treatment. The first level being the least intensive in terms of the number of weekly sessions participants are required to attend. Although our program is only six months, the client has the option to extend KC Services based on the client’s recovery needs. Furthermore, the services provided through our Drug Medi-Cal Counseling are at no cost to the client.

Involvement in the Drug Medi-Cal Program is completely voluntarily so one’s commitment to participate in the services provided by our new Drug Medi-Cal Program is necessary for recovering successfully. Once in our program, it is a requirement to attend all individual face-to-face interactions with a certified drug and alcohol counselor. Also, one must attend all required group sessions and weekly self-help meetings.

Korean Community Services’ main goal over the last 30 years is to provide treatment and prevention to promote a healthier lifestyle. Our latest Drug Medi-Cal Counseling program is just one more extra effort we are making to fulfill our mission to serve the community around us. For more information about our outpatient substance abuse programs, please come visit us at one of our three offices: KC Services Garden Grove West, KC Services Irvine and KC Services Fullerton, or visit our website (http://www.koreancommunity.org).
