Keun Young Park Creates Stunning Mosaics Out Of Tiny Bits Of Paper

by MICHELLE WOO

Holy cow. With astounding patience and precision (and, we’re guessing, lots of finger cramps), Keun Young Park creates stunning mosaics out of teeny-tiny bits of paper. Don’t sneeze!

The Korean-born, New Jersey-based artist photographs herself in various poses, changes the color of the images and prints them out on paper. She then tears up the pictures and pastes them back together, piece by piece. Through this painstaking process, Park aims to capture “the tremor of unstable presence.”

“I believe that everything is constantly changing, either being generated or destroyed,” she states. “Presence is just a state of being and the reality of an object has ambiguity in this shifting.”
