[UPDATE: We have been informed that this event has been canceled.]
Kollaboration and the L.A.-based nonprofit Saving Innocence are teaming up to raise awareness about the plight of child victims of domestic sex trafficking.
All proceeds from the “Saving Innocence Summer Benefit Concert,” taking place Aug. 2, will go toward supporting the organization’s efforts to eradicate child trafficking, while also providing victims with medical care, safe shelter, counseling, court advocacy, mentorship and education.
Although many are aware of the trafficking problem overseas, most Americans do not realize that it also exists in their own backyards. An estimated 100,000 to 300,000 youth are at risk for commercial sexual exploitation annually in the United States, with the average age of these trafficked adolescents 12 years old.
The Saturday concert will feature a diverse group of musicians, including Lucy Schwartz, Hana Kim, Hotel Cinema, Belmont Lights and Jane Lui.
In collaboration with the benefit concert, the Jubilee Project will also release a trailer for Save My Soul, a documentary about human sex trafficking. Kollaboration and Saving Innocence will also launch their #SaveInnocence social media campaign that evening.
Ford Ampitheatre doors open at 6 p.m., and guests are encouraged to bring their own picnic baskets. The doors for the event will officially open at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at the Ford Theatres website or by calling (323) 461-3673 (for non-visual media, (323) GO 1-FORD). To learn about discounts for groups of 8 or more, call (323) 769-2147.
