Kollaboration will be celebrating its 15th anniversary with its annual talent showcase Kollaboration Star at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on Nov. 15.
For 15 years, the nonprofit organization has celebrated and helped catapult Asian American talents, such as David Choi, Kina Grannis, Clara C and Far East Movement, into mainstream entertainment.
“Kollaboration’s goal is to promote Asian American entertainers — musicians, comedians, actors, dancers, etc. — on a national scale, allowing them to demonstrate their talents and passions to all audiences, regardless of skin color or gender,” Kollaboration said in its press release.
Six finalists from Kollaboration’s city competitions — Paul Kay (Chicago), Ang & Glo (Detroit), The Primaries (Los Angeles), Sung Lee (New York), JETT (Seattle) and Paradise (Washington DC) — will compete this year for the grand cash prize of $10,000 and networking opportunities with entertainment executives and artists.
Several Kollaboration alumni will also be returning to the stage as guest performers, including indie rock band Run River North, Korean adoptee and rapper DANakaDAN, singer-songwriter Alfa and dance team Kaba Modern.
Tickets are available through next Saturday. For more information about the event, visit Kollaboration Star’s website or Facebook page.
