Kumail Nanjiani Tells Racists To Do Their Research In SNL Monologue

Kumail Nanjiani killed it on SNL with his opening stand-up monologue. Nanjiani, who wrote, directed and starred in the indie rom-com “The Big Sick,” opened with an anecdote about being the second person in the Nanjiani clan to disappoint the family by marrying a white woman. He then joked that he wished racists and Islamophobes at least did their research before deciding the spew their vitriol.

“If someone told me ‘go back to India,’ I would think, ‘That guy’s an idiot,’” joked Nanjiani, who is Pakistani. “But if someone told me, ‘Go back to Pakistan, which was a part of India until 1947 and is now home to the world’s oldest salt mines,’ I would be like, ‘That guy seems to know he’s talking about. I’ll go pack my bags.’”
