YouTube’s resident Superwoman, Lilly Singh, is headed to the big screen with HBO Films’ “Fahrenheit 451.”
The adaptation of the classic dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury is being helmed by Ramin Bahrani and also stars Michael B Jordan, Michael Shannon and Sofia Boutella.
“Fahrenheit” is set in a world in which books, and those who read them, are condemned — firemen here burn books.
Singh, an Indian Canadian comedian who has created an online empire with a subscriber base of more than 11.7 million, will appear as a “tabloid vlogger who works with the fire department to spread the ministry’s propaganda by broadcasting their book-burning raids to fans,” according to Deadline.
This marks the first significant on-screen film role for the digital star — Singh’s prior film work includes voicing Bubbles in “Ice Age: Collision Course” and a cameo in “Bad Moms,” both last year.
