Lucy Liu Takes Director’s Seat For ‘Luke Cage 2’ Season Premiere

Marvel has officially confirmed that Lucy Liu will be directing the season 2 premiere of Netflix’s  “Luke Cage.”

Liu, who’s known worldwide for her performance as O-Ren Ishii in the “Kill Bill” films and more recently for her work in “Elementary” as Joan Watson, is moving behind the camera for the first episode of “Luke Cage 2” set to premiere in 2018.

Her directing career includes four episodes of “Elementary,” one episode of “Graceland” and a movie, “Meena” which premiered in New York City in 2014.

“When you’re dealing with a bulletproof man, it helps if you have a bulletproof director,” Executive Producer Jeph Loeb said of Liu in a Marvel statement. “Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors. She is rocking ‘Luke Cage 2.’”

Marvel and Netflix’s “Luke Cage” is the story of a man “trying to rebuild his life” after a botched experiment gives him superhuman strength and bulletproof skin. The first season is currently available to stream on Netflix.
