Maggie Q and Elizabeth Olsen Partner With Kiehl’s For Limited Edition Beauty Products

If you’re familiar with the cosmetics brand Kiehl’s, then you probably know about their history of protecting and nurturing the environment. In 2009, Kiehl’s launched it’s in-store recycling program that has kept 2.5 million plastic bottles out of the landfill. And that’s not all.

Kiehl’s has recently partnered with Audrey cover girl Maggie Q (CBS’s Stalker) and Elizabeth Olsen (Avengers: Age of Ultron) to create a limited edition collection of their Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado, which will include label artwork provided by the actresses. Most impressive of all, 100% of net proceeds will help benefit Recycle Across America, an organization which hopes to encourage more people to recycle by instituting standardized labels.

“I am a big ocean conservationist, and the lack of recycling in the world, and especially in America, directly affects our ocean,” Maggie Q explained when asked about her interest in recycling. “This is the precursor to the problem that I am dealing with. A lot of people don’t realize that without healthy oceans, we can’t even sustain life on this planet. We need them to be not just there, but healthy.”

“You don’t think that one person can make a difference in taking care of our planet,” Elizabeth Olsen adds. “But collectively, individuals can make a difference if everyone is reached and listens.”

Additionally, Maggie Q has taken a number of steps to stay green on a daily basis. First of all, she refrains from eating meat, which she believes is the biggest change a person can make when it comes to nurturing the environment. Secondly, she creates her own masks made from mud, oatmeal and avocados. In fact, Maggie is very selective about the beauty products she uses. The products must be chemical-free and have the least amount of preservatives possible. Some of her favorites include:

Dayle Breault Awakening Serum ($90), Kiehl’s Strengthening and Hydrating Hair Oil-in-Cream ($25), Lancer Retexturizing Treatment Cream ($75), Dayle Breault Synergy Mist, ($30), Kiehl’s Activated Sun Protector Spray Lotion for Body ($25) and Dayle Breault Precious Skin Elixir ($90).

As such, her partnership with Kiehl’s is certainly fitting. Not only does it provide consumers with a product she personally endorses, it also benefits an organization she thoroughly agrees with.

So far, Kiehl’s has raised $250,000 for Recycle Across America, which has helped supply recycling labels to over 3,800 schools throughout the United States. These labels make recycling easier and in turn, Recycle Across America hopes that more people will recycle and do so correctly.

“I think people think recycling is easier than it is,” Maggie remarks. “Nobody really knows that if you contaminate a recycling bin with something that doesn’t belong there, that whole bin goes to the landfill. The effort is more than people think, and the effort is worth it.”
