Masala: Meet Dassy Lee Who “Popped” Onto the Dance Scene

Dancer Inyoung “Dassy” Lee has broken boundaries in the world of dance as the first Korean national to compete on Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Even as a teenager, Lee recognized her dream of becoming a professional dancer. After seeing “So You Think You Can Dance” at age 12, she told herself, “I need to be on that show. I’m going to do it.” Lee immigrated to the States upon high school graduation, armed with determination and years of sharply honed popping skills.

After obtaining an artist visa, the elite dancer successfully auditioned for the award-winning TV program and went on to finish in the Top 8 of over 4,000 contestants. Lee has since danced at the American Music Awards, appeared in music videos for top artists such as Calvin Harris and PARTYNEXTDOOR, and even went viral with her dance troupe, Femme Fatale, reaching over 40 million views on Facebook.

Most recently, the dancer made it to the quarter finals of the Red Bull Dance Your Style competition, where competitors from across the globe showcased their dance moves via Tik Tok.
