This month, we asked our contributors: If you could stand under the mistletoe with anyone in the world, who would it be?
Check out the answers after the jump, and the stories in the December issue!
“I’m allergic to mistletoe.”
Elizabeth Eun is the online media manager of charactermedia.com. While reporting her story, “Star-Struck”, a recap of KoreAm’s “Unforgettable” gala in Los Angeles, Elizabeth was ordered to abandon her editorial duties in order to search for missing gift bags containing much coveted jewelry. Luckily, stringer Haewon Asfaw was on hand to provide additional reporting.
“Gandhi. Not because I want to kiss him, but because I think he’s a fascinating person. I’d use the time to pick his brain. And then, if he insisted, we’d kiss.”
Actor and comedian Randall Park is the author of “but I play one on TV”, a column for KoreAm. As the host of this year’s “Unforgettable” gala, he crooned the melody (wait for it…) “Unforgettable.” View his work at www.randallparkplace.com.
“I was raised Jehovah’s Witness, and therefore, do not celebrate Christmas. So, I do not stand under mistletoes, or any other toes for that matter.”
Jinah Kim is a part-time correspondent for NBC News and KNBC, and the co-president of the Asian American Journalists Association’s Los Angeles chapter. She is also the co-founder of WorldWise Productions, a video production company. For her story, “Up Close and Personal”, Kim chatted with news anchor JuJu Chang about journalism, family and what “having it all” really means.
“My one and only. No doubt about it.”
Army Chung is a Korean/English interpreter, translator and voiceover actress. For this month’s cover shoot with South Korean actor Jang Dong-gun, she served as a translator for Jang’s Korean-speaking staff and KoreAm’s English-speaking editor. Her favorite Korean actors (along with Jang, natch) are Sandra Oh and Sung Kang. “They both portray strong, non-stereotypical and non-accented characters. It’s refreshing! Oh, and Ken Jeong. I will never forget the way he popped out naked from that trunk.”
