Miyazaki’s New Film Gets A Title

Master animator and storyteller Hayao Miyazaki has announced the title of his newest upcoming project. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the work is entitled “Kimitachi wa Do Ikiru ka,” which translates as “How Do You Guys Live?”

The title is taken from a 1937 book of the same name by Genzaburo Yoshino, and the film will center on how this particular book has played a role in the protagonist’s life. Miyazaki anticipates that the project will take three or four years to complete.

Miyazaki crashed onto the anime scene in 1985 with his first full-length anime film “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.” He gained international attention in 2001 when his film “Spirited Away” won the Oscar for Best Animated Picture at the 75th Academy Awards. Miyazaki announced his retirement in 2012 at the completion of “The Wind Rises,” but has since returned to filmmaking.
