PGA Toshiba Classic to honor military veterans

The PGA Champions Tour’s Toshiba Classic, the only event of its kind held in Orange County, will host its second annual Military Appreciation Day on Oct. 8.

All former, active, and reserve military members (and up to three of their guests) will be treated to free admission to the golf tournament, which is held annually at the Newport Beach Country Club, according to organizers. They will also be offered complimentary food and beverage vouchers.

The event will feature a “Messages to the Military” board, a full color guard presentation and a national anthem opening ceremony to celebrate the service of military personnel.

The Microsemi Corporation, which is presenting the event, is a provider of semiconductor and system solutions for aerospace & defense. It is its fourth year sponsoring the Toshiba Classic, and will be their first time sponsoring Military Appreciation Day.

“We are proud to expand our sponsorship to support Military Appreciation Day as we celebrate and honor the former, active and reserve service men and women who sacrifice so much for our country,” said James J. Peterson, chairman and CEO of Microsemi in a statement.
