Run River North Are Keeping ‘COOL’ With New Single

With a month to go until their next EP release, Run River North offer a second peek of what’s ahead—this time, with an accompanying trippy lyric video.

“OKAY COOL,” which dropped Sept. 26, is a funky pop jam featuring a chill bass line and plenty of electronic swagger. While “Wake Up,” the band’s last single off the forthcoming “Monsters Calling Home, Vol. 2,” reminded listeners to slow down and enjoy life, “OKAY COOL” ushers fans into a metaphorical dreamscape. Run River North, composed of trio Alex Hwang (guitar/ vocals), Daniel Chae (guitars/ vocals) and Sally Kang (keys/ vocals), first made a name for themselves with a homegrown, indie folk sound, then transitioned into the rock scene with their hit single “Run or Hide” in 2015. “Monsters Calling Home, Vol. 2,” which drops on Nov. 1 via Nettwerk Records, is the second part of an EP that released this past May. “Vol. 2” features collaborations with musicians Vinyl Pinups and producer Derek Fuhrmann.

“To us, the record feels new and youthful and at the same time very pure and happy,” Hwang said in a press release. “That contagious, genuine sense of joy is something we’ve been wanting to get to, and it’s been really fun to discover while working with other musicians we respect and looking inside ourselves as well.”
