At some point in their lifetime, many people dream of visiting the City of Lights, the Grand Canyon, or the Alps – and for some, their dreams of traveling, unfortunately, stay dreams. Japanese aviation photographer Ryuji Furusho, however, turned his dreams into reality and has traveled to around 100 countries since 1999 in his line of work.
According to Japan Times, Furusho realized that he was traveling, on average, with a different airline every month, including major airlines such as Delta, United and Korean Air. When he realized that he could become the next person to hold the title for flying with the most airlines, he got excited and looked up the previous world record, which was 108 airlines. He realized that he could beat that, and so he did.
By January this year, Furusho submitted an astonishing total of 182 boarding passes to Guinness World Records. Although they decided to exclude chartered flights, they still gave him credit for the 156 airlines he had flown with. And just like that, Furusho broke the record.
The 41-year-old, who conveniently resides in Narita (the home of Japan’s international airport), has said of his many jet-set adventures, “It is interesting to observe the cultural differences between countries by the food served on board and the uniforms of the crew.”
