Shin-Soo Choo Records First Career Cycle

Shin-Soo Choo hasn’t had much to cheer about this year, including his own poor performance through the first half of the season, but the first cycle of his career gave us a glimpse of the player the Texas Rangers signed two years ago: a combination of solid contact, occasional power and speed.

The outfielder knocked an RBI double to right-center in his first at bat in the second inning to put Texas on the board. In the fourth, Choo blasted a solo home run into the right-field bleachers, followed with an RBI single in the fifth, then finally tripled in the ninth to complete the cycle.

He also had a stolen base in the fifth inning to top it all off, along with a nifty catch in right field to rob Troy Tulowitzki of a hit.

Choo’s cycle is the eighth in Rangers history, the first since Alex Rios did it on Sept. 23, 2013, and the 13th cycle in the history of Coors Field, according to MLB.com. Good to see the Shin-Soo Choo train back on track, even if it’s just one game.
