StarCraft Betting Scandal Rocks South Korea

StarCraft in Korea is big. Really big. The real-time strategy game is regarded as a national sport—matches are televised and professionals are revered as celebrities.

But recently, the e-sports scene has be struck by scandal. Several high-ranking pro players have been accused of manipulating the results of their matches in favor of illegal gamblers. The scandal also involves retired pros, coaches and managers. The suspects include superstar Ma Jae Yoon, who goes by the name sAviOr. Police are currently investigating the accusations.

The scandal could be devastating for the future of Starcraft in Korea.
