Albert Song

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deadly Los Angeles nightclub fight that resulted in the death of a U.S. Army officer on leave, police said.

Steve Hong was arrested on July 2 in Riverside by LAPD detectives just a month after the June 2 incident at the downtown ICON club, which resulted in the death of 24-year-old Albert Song. Hong was charged with murder on July 5 with bail set at $1 million. Police have issued an arrest warrant for a second man, Luan Thin Lam.

Song was attempting to break up a fight when he was attacked, according to reports. Police said Song was punched unconscious and later kicked repeatedly by several suspects. The fight rendered him brain dead and on life support. He died on June 3 after donating his organs, and was buried on June 14. Song was laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery in Southern California with more than 500 family, friends and military personnel attending his funeral.

Song graduated from Whitney High School in Cerritos, Calif., as well as the United States Military Academy at West Point. A first lieutenant, he had recently completed Army Ranger School and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii.
