As awards season winds down, Hollywood looks forward to its next slate of projects. For the award-winning dark comedy “BEEF,” creator and executive producer Lee Sung Jin is already exploring the Netflix A24 series’ sophomore season, according to an exclusive via Deadline.
Rumored to follow the route of HBO’s “The White Lotus” in becoming an anthology, the second season is said to explore a feud between two couples. The reported cast circling the news includes “May December” star and fellow Unforgettable Gala winner Charles Melton alongside “Priscilla” breakout Cailee Spaeny as one of the couples, while Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway would be reuniting from their “Love & Other Drugs” days to create the other.
This news follows additional wins for the cast and crew of “BEEF” this past weekend at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Producers Guild of America Awards and Independent Spirit Awards. The series has garnered both critical and audience acclaim this past year, winning awards at the Emmys, the Golden Globes and the 2023 Unforgettable Gala, where the series’ stars, Steven Yeun and Young Mazino, and creator Lee, won the Actor in TV, Breakout in TV and Writer awards, respectively.
While little is confirmed about season 2, audiences are nonetheless excited for a second helping of “BEEF.”
