Lisa Ling will be making her CNN debut with the new series This is Life with Lisa Ling on Sept. 28 at 10 p.m., ET/PT.

In this new original documentary series, the award-winning journalist and author travels across the country to introduce viewers to unusual and extraordinary sub-cultures. Each hour-long episode will explore some of America’s most unconventional lifestyles—from drug use in the Mormon community to traveling strippers. The eight-episode series is produced by Part2 Pictures with executive producers Ling, Amy Bucher and David Shadrack Smith.

“I have always believed that the more we know about each other, the more evolved we become,” Ling said in a statement. “I am absolutely thrilled to bring stories of everyday people with extraordinary lives to the premier global journalism platform, CNN. I hope viewers will open their hearts and minds to the incredible worlds we’re about to explore together.”

Amy Entelis, senior vice president of talent and content development for CNN Worldwide, commented, “Lisa is a seasoned reporter with an unbelievable ability to connect with the people she interviews, issues she examines and the audience she enlightens. CNN is thrilled to have her compelling and fearless storytelling as part of our Original Series line-up.”

Previously, Lisa hosted the documentary series Our America with Lisa Ling on OWN, in which she covered controversial topics including ADHD in American families, the largest foster care system in the country, and faith healers. The series ran for five seasons with 44 episodes and ended in May.
