It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… Daniel Dae Kim? Twitter is obsessed with the idea of upcoming “Hellboy” star Daniel Dae Kim as the Man of Steel after he graced attendees with his presence at the 16th Unforgettable Gala, presented by BMW, on Dec. 9.
Kim stepped onto the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton looking dapper and classic in a black suit and glasses. With his chiseled features and charismatic personality, Kim was already superhero material, but when the specs came off, the movement reminded us of a certain Daily Planet writer getting ready to save the world again.

What started out as a simple, fun caption, however, ended up firing up people’s imagination, including that of “Legends of Tomorrow” star Caity Lotz and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D”’s Chloe Bennet.
I’d actually love to see @danieldaekim as Superman https://t.co/QqTP6mmoPv

PLEASE. IM OBSESSED WITH THIS IDEA. @danieldaekim as Superman. Yes yes yes. https://t.co/KjZVLtRVsQ

Kim himself commented, writing, “We could really use a big-screen Asian superhero, couldn’t we?”
Thanks, @ChloeBennet4 & @caitylotz! #Superman is one of my favorites and I’m a big #HenryCaville fan. But yeah, we really could use a big screen Asian superhero, couldn’t we? #LookUpInTheSky #Someday https://t.co/RL7FTaYF27

Other Twitters users chimed in, expressing their approval of the idea, pointing out that an Asian version of the superhero, Kenon Kong, does exist in the comics and that Kal-El is an alien and could technically be played by an actor of any race. Nerds of Color pointed out that hapa actor Dean Cain once portrayed Superman in the 1993 series “Lois and Clark.”
Everybody pressed about @caitylotz’s DDK tweet saying Superman can’t be Asian must have forgotten about “Lois & Clark” ♂️ pic.twitter.com/TtGVSSnxiL
