Most can only assume that living by the beach, owning a business and driving a convertible is something made for the movies, but Ted Chung is living it.
A media entrepreneur and visionary based in Los Angeles, Chung will be honored with the Entertainment Mogul Award at Kore Asian Media’s 16th Unforgettable gala, presented by BMW, on Dec. 9, 2017.
As founder of the Cashmere Agency, a lifestyle-marketing company with clients that include Red Bull, Adidas, Netflix, E! and Sony Pictures, Chung is an industry veteran. He is also the founder of Stampede Management, an artist and producer management company that leads a talent roster including Grammy winning artist Lalah Hathaway, producer C. Ballin and longtime friend, client and business partner Snoop Dogg.
Chung, the son of Korean immigrants, graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with a specialty in entertainment marketing. While he started out DJing and producing music in high school, he was led to the business side and learned street-team marketing from friends, which led him to found Cashmere in 2003.
Most recently in 2015, with Snoop Dogg, Chung co-founded Merry Jane, a cannabis-focused digital media platform which aims to be the main source for cannabis news, business and politics for millennials and new cannabis users. The company has also produced a number of online video series and TV shows for MTV, VH1 and other networks.
As the presenting partner of the 2017 Unforgettable Gala, BMW of North America continues its longstanding commitment to celebrating diversity. The gala is also supported by gold sponsors Private Internet Access and Pechanga Resort & Casino, along with silver sponsor M&L Hong Foundation. A teaser for the film “Beats of Paradise,” which showcases the rhythmic beauty of gamelan, or traditional Indonesian music, and its influence on Balinese culture, directed by Livi Zheng and executive produced by Julia Gouw, will officially launch at the Unforgettable Gala.
