It’s August and in many parts of the country, the heat is only just starting to reach its intensity that will take us through the usually sweltering month of September. Good news for sun worshippers; bad news for those of us eager to whip out those gorgeous fall coats and boots we lovingly gazed at on the fall runways practically eons ago.
But one thing we can wear off the fall runways now is the new twisted take on the updo seen at shows from Chanel to Victoria Beckham.
Sure, you can twist and secure with a gazillion bobby pins, but seriously, who but the most finessed of self-hair stylists among us can or are willing to do that on a hot summer day? Celebrity stylist Sarah Potempa (she’s got a whole line of new cool hair products at Target) gives us an easy way to do the ‘do with her new Wrap Up. An inner wire makes this the easiest way to do the new twist, and it comes in three shades to suit all hair colors. (It’s also super easy to use the Wrap Up to do the top knot, half-up top knot or traditional chignon, if you are so inclined.)
1) First, smooth hair into a ponytail by spraying a flexible hairspray on to a styling brush, like the SARAHPOTEMPA On Set Styling Brush. Secure with a strong elastic.
2) Then pull the hair from the ponytail through the SARAHPOTEMPA Wrap Up and pinch closed. Slide the SARAHPOTEMPA Wrap Up down only half way and roll up.
3) When you get to the base of the ponytail, pull the ends out and over to the side. Bend the left side of the SARAHPOTEMPA Wrap Up closed and then the right side, leaving the ends out to one side.
4) Once you’ve got your twist done, add some bling for some serious fashion cred.
