4 Minute’s Awkward 4 Minutes with Amerie

Following the hot heels of other American artists like Lady Gaga for M.Net or Jason Derulo on his tour of shows with Brian Joo, is Amerie, who returns to Korea with girl group 4 Minute to promote her latest album, In Love & War.

The last time we saw the half-Korean chanteuse grace the stages of the country was back in 2007 when she was promoting her single, Take Control, with R&B crooner, Se7en.

But as much as I adore and respect Amerie, I must say that her choice of collaborating with 4 Minute was an incredibly blind-sighted decision made in haste and pure Korean pop ignorance. Because as we all know, 4 Minute is just minutes away from becoming K-Pop debris, dusted off from the stage in a matter of a hot second.

In their horrific performance of Heard ‘Em All on Music Bank we see a glimpse of just how egregiously lost these girls are and just why they’re at the bottom of the girl group totem pole. For instance their awkward pause at around :12-:16–seriously, what in Andre Kim’s spray-on helmet dome piece was that?

The 4 Minute girls continue to terrorize Amerie’s performance by confusedly attempting the choreography while tripping along in their lines. Add their improvisational “sexy” dance at 1:38 and their pitchy singing throughout and you one hot hot hot mess of a show.

Come on girls! If you’re going to try and act fierce and sexy commit to it! Or well, you know, just practice?

What do you think, fellow K-Poppin’ fans? Was 4 Minute the best choice or who would have been a better match?
