As of June 1, the biggest resort and casino on the West Coast is back in business.
Pechanga Resort & Casino drew crowds on Monday, with many customers waiting before 8AM for the noon opening. Appropriate social distancing both inside and outside the casino has been enforced, frequent disinfection and cleaning have been implemented and capacity has been decreased. In the casino, every other slot machine is available for use, and plexiglass shields are placed between players and dealers at tables. Five of Pechanga’s 13 restaurants are currently serving customers.
“The health and safety of our guests, team members and community is and has always been our number one priority at Pechanga,” said Jared Munoa, President of the Pechanga Development Corporation, in a press statement. “The casino and resort looks and operates differently than we did only a few months ago. All of the new procedures and restrictions all direct back to best practices for safety and well-being.”
The casino had been closed since March 16, when Pechanga Tribal Officials decided to close doors to halt the spread of COVID-19. As proven by the early turnout, the casino’s customers are excited to get back to playing.
