Dust off your bandanas and turtle shells – it’s time to head back to the sewers.
The official trailer for Paramount Pictures’ “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” finally dropped this morning, plunging audiences right back into their favorite brothers’ antics. Following Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael as they try to gain acceptance as normal New York teenagers, the story soon turns upside down as the boys run into an army of evil mutants determined to take over the world.
The film stars Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, Shamon Brown Jr. as Mikey, Micah Abbey as Donnie and Brady Noon as Raph, alongside Jackie Chan as Master Splinter. Other top-billed cast members include Ayo Edebiri, Ice Cube, Seth Rogan, John Cena, Paul Rudd, Post Malone and Maya Rudolph, with Jeff Rowe (“The Mitchells vs. the Machines”) and Kyler Spears directing.
The project has already been heralded for its innovative animation, mixing both 2D and 3D illustration styles. With broad paint strokes and vibrant colors, the film pays homage to the franchise’s original comic book aesthetic.
The Turtles and all their friends will hit the big screen on August 2. In the meantime, order your favorite pizza, brush up on your ninjutsu and watch the “Mutant Mayhem” trailer below.
