‘After Yang’ Tackles Android Humanity in Thought-provoking First Trailer

In a world where technology continuously advances, becoming more human-like in appearance and intelligence, a question arises: What separates humanity from our creations that are increasingly becoming more human?

“Columbus” director Kogonada explores this issue in his highly anticipated second film, “After Yang.” The first trailer, released by A24 on Feb. 1, teases the futuristic tale of Jake (Colin Farrell) and his wife Kyra (Jodie Turner-Smith). The couple struggle to decide what to do with Yang (Justin H.Min), their artificial babysitter/sibling for their adopted daughter Mika (Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja), after he inexplicably malfunctions.

Based on the short story “Saying Goodbye to Yang” by Alexander Weinstein, “After Yang” will delve into the complex nature of human intelligence and emotions. The film, which premiered at Cannes Film Festival last July, received rave reviews from critics and is currently at an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Join Jake and his family’s quest on uncovering the secrets of being human when “After Yang” premieres on  March 4, 2022, in theaters and streaming on Showtime. Until then, watch the trailer below!
